Enhanced standard of training and practice
Intervention:

Participate in technical review and upgrading of the paediatric training programs of health cadres such as medical officers, house officers, clinical officers and nurses in South Sudan.
Activities:
- Reviewing and analyzing existing paediatrics programs and submits the recommendations for improving and upgrading the programs to the relevant authorities (training institutions, and ministry of higher education).
- Liaise with relevant authorities on harmonizing the paediatric guidelines and approaches for hospital care.
Activities:
- Identify disparities in paediatrics guidelines and approaches
- Set up harmonization committee
- Develop the harmonize guidelines and approaches
- Support the implementation of the developed guidelines and approaches
- Develop a tool to track implementation and result
- Monitor implementation
- Support in Supervision and training of all paediatric heath care providers, and ensure that it meets the international standards.
- Participating in regular joint supportive supervision visits
- Participating in refresher and on-job training of paediatric health care providers (IMCI, ICCM, etc)
- Participating in setting paediatric assessment examinations for permanent registration in South Sudan General Medical Council.
- Advocate for establishment of postgraduate studies/subspecialty trainings (masters, PhD, ect.) in the field of paediatrics and child health in South Sudan
- Lobbing with the policy makers, existing universities and ministry of higher education
- Participating in regulating paediatric and child practice in South Sudan.
- Assessment of training needs
- Tailoring the training to needs
Justification of the above activities for Objective 1
- There is falling standard of training and practice of paediatrics and child health..
- The University of Juba, Medical College is old enough and it deserves post graduates in paediatrics.
